Q2 2017: Feature Release Overview [Webinar]
This is a 1-hour session led by Director of Technical Sales and Client Support, Neil McGough, summarizing Learnosity’s latest feature releases from Q2 of 2017 and how they can add value to your learning product.
A simplified set of Question templates that feature fewer options than the default Question templates.
Simple templatess are helpful to authors who either don’t need the full set of options or may be unfamiliar with some of the advanced Question types and configuration options offered within the Learnosity Question editor.
They are particularly suitable for teacher authors.
The Activity Builder allows users of the embedded Author API to easily create a new Activity and modify existing Activities.
Authors can now:
- Search, Preview, and Select Items for the Activity.
- Reorder and Remove Items in the Activity.
- Set the Activity Reference and a Description for the Activity.
- Search and Preview the existing Activities in your organization.
This functionality allows the author to embed audio player or onscreen tools such as a calculator, protractor or ruler within the question stem, or within a possible response of the Question as opposed to having to insert a separate Feature onto the Item.
This functionality is exclusively found in the Question Editor V3 WysiHTML toolbar
Using the Action Builder enables authors to autoplay audio and video, auto record audio, disable navigation, and disable the student from interacting with the Question. For example, you may wish an audio prompt to automatically play for the student on page load.
This functionality is ideal for use with the Simple Features options and is exclusively found in the WysiHTML toolbar.
This functionality renders a hierarchical series of dropdown selectors for one or more specified tag hierarchies and allows the user to explore Items tagged within those hierarchies.
The hierarchy browse control is smart enough to only present the user with paths in the hierarchy that contains at least one item.
Dynamic content is a form of smart content which allows many variations of the same Question. There is no need to enter large amounts of data manually, the data is imported directly from a spreadsheet/CSV. You can even quickly generate data in this fashion using popular spreadsheet applications. This data will then be automatically transformed into a table and can be used to author Questions using table variables.
This feature increases author efficiency when creating large numbers of questions. It also discourages cheating between students as although they are tested on the same subject, they have different questions to answer.
Paginated passages can now be created within the shared passage Feature.
This will allow the student to be presented with multiple passages, like pages in a book, by clicking left and right arrow buttons underneath a passage.

Learnosity LTI delivers Learnosity assessments and reports right inside your LMS, through the LTI standard.
LTI initializes and renders the Learnosity APIs directly into the assessment and reporting views of your LMS. It also provides a UI for instructors and authors to configure the assessment, take a preview test, and view class reports.
We support LTI grade passback, so you can have the best of both worlds: student scores in your LMS gradebook, as well as Learnosity’s full range of rich reporting options.
Just configure your LTI credentials inside your LMS and your platform can start delivering Learnosity assessments immediately.

This is a recent addition to our suite of Technology Enhanced Item types. With the File upload Question students are given the ability to upload any file from their device. This is particularly suitable for projects or assignments or even practical exams.
Accepted file types: JPG, GIF, PNG, PDF.
Shuffle Options in Choice Matrix
Shuffle Options are now available for the Choice Matrix question type.
This function displays the response options in a different order each time the question is rendered. It can be useful to discourage students cheating.
Masking is a way for students to visually reduce the population of correct answers as they work through solving a question.
Response masking has no impact on the validation of the question.
Short Term Roadmap
These reports enable you to gain meaningful insights across large groups and cohorts of up to 200,000 users.
Aggregate, analyse, explore and compare results across schools, departments, courses, geographic or demographic groups.
Item analysis is a general term for a set of methods used to evaluate test items. Item analysis provides value by telling us:
- How easy or hard a question is for a target cohort
- How the high and low performers do on a question
- How parts of the answer are doing (distractor analysis)
Due to increased demand to print Learnosity assessments we are working on a partnership with Paperscorer. With the Learnosity-Paperscorer partnership clients who licence Paperscorer will be able to directly generate offline paper-based assessments from Learnosity question types. This means that students who require an offline assessment can receive the same assessment as their peers taking the online version. Student responses can be auto-graded via a scanner or mobile device and ingested back into Learnosity.
