AWShine Hack Media Alert
Media Alert: AWS takes positive action on gender diversity in IT with AWShine Hack
Sydney, Australia – 28 August, 2015 – Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company will be hosting the first AWShine Hack, an initiative by Amazon Women Shine and the AWS Start up Community with the aim to bring innovative business ideas to life while addressing the diversity divide faced by women in IT and business.
AWS recognises an even split between women and men in the local technology space. Everyone is talking about the importance of diversity in the workplace, but the industry needs to progress beyond just talk to address the issues. The Australian IT industry needs input from women, men, old, young and everything in between to make a real difference.
The AWShine Hack will focus on the ideas of female entrepreneurs and an even split of female: male developers in a two-day workshop in Sydney and Melbourne. The event will see up to 100 female and male participants from the start-up, tech and business communities collaborating and competing to bring to life innovative start-up ideas for the marketplace economy.
Participants will pitch, preview their beta launch and validate their ideas in preparation for the final presentation in front of a panel of industry judges. There will be industry mentors throughout the two events from companies including our top prize sponsors GE Corporate, Learnosity, Finder.com, and many others.
